Happy almost Friday everyone,

Just a quick reminder and encouragement to you all today that you are doing well and everything will come together nicely in the end. Thumbs up for you.

I wrote this blog post to tell you to relax. Not just you, believe me I’m telling myself that too. See, we are all running different races and that someone is ahead of you despite your effort doesn’t make your race any less valid. So whatever it is, go on and just keep at it. I cannot guarantee that you won’t have days of dwindling hope or days when you just want to pack up and hide under your duvet but try, just keep at it. Do it afraid, do it sad maybe even, but just do it. It doesn’t matter what it is, whether it’s your career or a new business or being a new mom or a new dad.

The whole of last week I kept asking myself if anything was even worth it. You know, you put in so much work to something and you are hardly seeing any result. I have been writing now for five years and sometimes it is so frustrating because all you want isn’t forth coming. How long till a break actually falls through? Is there something I’m not doing right etc. I couldn’t help but ask myself if there was any use. There was the urge to even compare myself to others who I know we started together or I possibly even started ahead of wondering why my own case feels slower despite all my hard work. But here’s the thing, it is important to stay focused no matter what. I reminded myself to focus and it is what you must do too.

Don’t get carried away by your environment or by social media. Sometimes, I want to let go of all my social media accounts because there’s way too much pressure on there. It’s a pretty glamorous life there and it is very easy to feel out of line especially when all that ever pops up is completely different from your own reality.

Social media can give you false ideologies because you never see the back story. People post what they want you to see – new mom’s snapping back to pre baby body in 2weeks, running this motherhood business like it’s nothing, people looking sharp in designer and luxury clothing, meanwhile you are wondering why your own business isn’t yielding as much money to be able to buy designer stuff, businesses that started long after you now delivering nationwide even to the UK and America Your office has refused to promote you and acknowledge all your hard work but everyone around you has moved up and you are just wondering – me nko?

  I read about how Obama felt terrible after he ran for congress and lost badly in 1999. He thought for him to have lost that bad, maybe he wasn’t cut out to do politics. He had invested a lot of time and effort into something that didn’t seem to be working. But he said what got him through that time and any other time he felt in that hole is to remind himself that “it’s about the work. Because if you are worrying about yourself – if you’re thinking: ‘Am I succeeding? Am I in the right position? Am I being appreciated?’ – then you are going to end up feeling frustrated and stuck. But if you can keep it about the work, you’ll always have a path. There’s always something to be done.”

So relax, don’t get carried away. Don’t think you are not doing enough. As long as you are putting in your best, putting in the work, I’m telling you today that you are on your path and you are doing ok. Don’t get discouraged.
